We believe that baptism is a celebratory way of acknowledging a person’s decision to follow Jesus Christ. Much like the symbol of a wedding ring signifies one’s public commitment to marriage, water baptism is an outward declaration of the commitment to follow Jesus after being Made New! Being baptized in water signifies a death to our old life and new life offered only through the redemptive grace offered through Jesus Christ!
As your church, we would love to help you take this next-step of your faith journey.
NEXT BAPTISM SERVICE - TBD
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS REGARDING BAPTISM:
Why should I be baptized?
Jesus commands His followers to be baptized as an outward symbol of an inward commitment. This action publicly testifies that a person is leaving their old life behind and embracing the life God has for them.
Read Matthew 3:13-17, Matthew 28:18-20 and Romans 6:1-5
Does being baptized make me a Christian?
The process of going under the water and coming back up is not our salvation. Jesus alone is the way to eternal life through His death on the cross and resurrection from the dead. Baptism is a next-step of publicly acknowledging that Jesus is at the center of our life.
What if I was baptized previously?
Many Christian traditions celebrate baptism. We honor and celebrate what God is doing and has done through His grace. If you have previously been baptized and are questioning the need to be baptized again in this Season of your walk of faith, we invite you to have a conversation with one of our pastors.
What age is appropriate for baptism?
Baptism has nothing to do with one’s age and everything to do with one’s spiritual condition. A candidate for baptism needs to fully understand that baptism is a public declaration and celebration of the decision he/she has made to be a follower of Christ. We invite parents of infants and young children to dedicate their child to Jesus in a ceremony of dedication. This Child Dedication signifies a parent’s willingness to raise their child(ren) in the Christian faith and model for them what following Jesus looks like and means.
